Tefal Steamer August 22, 2010 Garry Picken Great product. The one we had was a fair few years old so we thought we would change it as the steamer bowls were looking a bit used, which they had been. it gets used bout 3 to 4 times a week and the only trouble we had was the little lugs breaking off from the bowl bases but it does not interfere with the steaming. The new one is working every bit as good as the old one and the lugs are still on. Great product would recomend to any one.
Its absouletely fine! August 4, 2010 N. Martin (UK) Been uisng steamers for several yaers. Its as good as any we have tried and adequately copes with enough veggies for a family of 4.
Tefal steamer July 21, 2010 C. Tait (London England) I had had a Tefal steamer for about 3 years and it was on its last legs. The plastic had become brittle and the clips had broken off the baskets. After reading other reviews, I realised this was a common complaint so was pleased to see the new version of the 'Steam Cuisine' has baskets with fixed bases which avoids the accidents when everything collapses!!
The baskets are easy to clean and there is a useful extra container for steaming rice. The steamer itself seems to produce a little less steam than the last one so timings are a little different, but it does also mean less steam in the kitchen. It is reasonably compact to store but it is a shame the baskets do not fit over the base as in my old one. A good value, neat little steamer with plenty of room for all needs.
Very disappointed with Tefal Steamer July 9, 2010 sdoidge 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this steamer as I regarded Tefal as a good brand name. Sadly, I cannot say that any longer. While the steamer supposedly works fine, there is something I simply cannot understand, and it is this: once I have dished the steamed food onto my plate, it looses its warmth very rapidly, in other words, I am left eating a cold meal. I do not at all mind this in the summer, but it would be irritating during winter time.
Do not buy this item; simply purchase a three tier stainless steal steaming set, which is what I will be doing in the near future. I am not happy with this product at all.
not an improvement July 2, 2010 Sheila (UK) We bought this to replace our previous Tefal Steamer because the timer switch had broken and a bit of plastic which held the base on had come off one of the baskets. That one had removable bases to the baskets, which were fiddly to put in and take out so we thought this one with fixed bottoms (!) would be an improvement.
Not so. There are no handles, so moving it while it's switched on is extremely dodgy and could be dangerous. There is no means by which you can top up the reservoir while in use.
We'll be looking around for another one which is better designed.
