Product Description
This ingenious device electronically counts your coins as you save! The quality LCD displays a running total of all the coins you deposit. A great place for all that loose change or to save for something special. This electronic money box is a child's dream come true. And especially in the current economic climate, it works equally well for adults. Encouraging saving and simultaneously registering the number of coins inserted into the box, it has a spectacularly luminescent and spacey feel for a very worthy and down-to-earth application. The product features a reset button and requires 2 x AA batteries (not included). Manufactured to a very high standard, the Counting Money Jar is strong and resilient. The money in the above picture is not included! Nobody will dare to "borrow" from your jar!

4 out of 5 stars Great   July 12, 2010

Great for a fun play thing! Not to be taken too seriously. Is plastic, so, lightweight and transparent, not the most accurate, but does a good job if you're careful when you insert coins. Depends on what you want - was fine for my purpose - a fun gift for my boyfriend to put all his coins in one place and know the value of them collectively!

After reading other reviews and the fact my in-laws had purchased the product and theirs has worked, I decided to go ahead and purchase one for husband for fathers day. My advice don't bother. It just doesn't work. We have bought 3 lots of batteries for it and still nothing. It is one of those things that will collect dust and eventually be thrown away.

3 out of 5 stars Money Jar   July 3, 2010

Great idea but unless you are really positivw when you push the coin in it doesn't always correctly identify the coin. Particularly 1p's and 5p's which it mixes up. Still I suppose it's a guide to how much you've saved, just don't rely on it to be accurate. I bought 2 and gave 1 as a present and they both have the same problem.

4 out of 5 stars fast service   June 29, 2010

Wanted a gift that would arrive in good time, and it did. The money jar was delivered in 3 days, far quicker than the estimated time. It is a gadget and it appeals to children, anything that gets kids paying attention to counting or even coinage being in one place and visually known to be in one place is useful.
When it is a gift and not forced learning it will be used. Postage is a bit costly for the weight and packaging, but it can be delivered for you, so that is helpful...inclusive prices would be better as there is not a shop to pop into and buy it from amazon.... a comparison would be shopping in-store and paying extra to take the goods (each item)with you- yet being able to have it sent out to you at no extra cost!

3 out of 5 stars digital coin counting jar   June 29, 2010

The first purchase was disappointing as the battery cover was stuck fast and did not know whether it worked. A replacement arrived swiftly and once up and running, it did count the coins but you have to push them in deftly as sometimes a 1p registered as 5p for instance and another occasion, not quite managing to push the coin through the slot resulted in an addition anyway!!!!

Oh well, I didn't need it for cashing up or banking, luckily!!!! Still, it is a novelty item for a child's pocket money!
