This is great for making proper coffee for just one person. I now have two (one for the office and one for home) and wouldn't be without them, super buy.

I cannot abide instant coffee, and being out of the UK with work for 4 months with only instant coffee, was really getting to me. I checked out travel cafetieres on amazon, found this one, liked the reviews and had it sent to the Middle East. Conditions are tough out here, but a proper coffee fix three times a day is making the difference between being grouchy and relatively content in the middle of a desert! while you might get a few coffee grains in your drink, overall I am delighted with this very simple, but clever mug. Several of my colleagues out here have ordered them after seeing mine. It will be my office mug in future - far handier than a mug and a cafetiere! you won't be disppointed!

I have used a coffee filter machine for years and the coffee was never strong or tasty enough. The Smartcafe is branded as a cafetiere and it is in principle but there is a major difference; all of the coffee is in contact with all of the water whilst brewing. The result is fantastic coffee! I have been using mine constantly for over a year now and it is time to order another. The fine mesh filter does eventually become clogged up and I cannot find a way to clear it but, because the Smartcafe is relatively cheap, just replace it.
Some reviews mention a taste from the mug but I have not found that. Perhaps they are using boiling water - it is recommended that the temperature should be just below that. I cannot praise this product too highly.

I was so sick of drinking tea at work and would not resort to instant coffee as I have an espresso machine at home and am a bit of a coffee snob!
My partner bought me one if these and I use it everyday. It's just like a a cafetiere and now I can drink filter coffee at work. Easy to clean out and fairly robust, with good thermal insulation, a drink will stay warm for a while. It is so good, I've bought one for my partner, so that she too can have coffee at work.
The aesthetics is the only let down. With coffee culture being so wide now, it's a shame that the mugs look a little like camping crockery. That said, function over form - great design. I'm sure if you buy one, you'll never go back to instant!
