 Question about splash guard .... November 20, 2008

Can anyone help with this question about the splash guard on the kitchen aid mixer? I am very tempted to buy the basic white Kitchen Aid mixer BUT it dosen't come with a splash guard. Do you think you need the splash guard? Also, the bowl is slightly smaller than the artisan ones. Am I being too picky??!!!

I bought my KitchenAid Classic from Amazon, first of all brilliant service from Amazon.
Secondly - I just absolutely love my KitchenAid - I use it 2 - 3 times a week, and tonight used it to make my Christmas Cake - no bother to it at all! Brilliant piece of kit, if you thinking about it, don't think any longer, just do it! Especially since it is now down to 150 - a pure give away.
No praise is too high.

I bought this a few weeks ago when it was reduced to 179.99, as an upgrade from having a Kenwood Chef Classic.
The kenwood chef was ok at mixing and kneading but this maching is amazing.
So far since I have got this machine I have made:
100 cupcakes
2 10" xmas cakes
2 8" xmas cakes
2 6" xmas cakes
3 birthday cakes
Pizza Bases
Beef Burgers
mountains of buttercream
scones
The mixer handles everything i throw at it with no problems. a 10" xmas cake is a lot of mix, 500g sugar, 500g butter, 9 eggs, 2 KG of fruit, 500g flour.
The mixer quite happily coped with the butter, sugar and eggs, half the flour and 1/3 of the fruit before the bowl was full, but i believe it would have happily kept going without any problem.
This is the ideal addition to your kitchen, and will take the hard work out of baking and cooking as it is so versitile.
And a snap now that is has been reduced further to 149.99

I was lucky enough to buy this when Amazon had 50% off, so not only was it a great item but a great price too. Since it arrived we now eat wonderful home baked bread instead of bought in rubbish, as it does all the kneading for me. A real labour saving device, i am sure it can do more than i use it for, so would like to buy a good book for mixer recipes, any ideas anyone?? I think this is an excellent quality item with iconic looks so it is great standing out on the work top, no need to put it away !!
