1 out of 5 stars Another Faulty unit Here   November 14, 2008

After about 7 weeks my Fryer also refused to switch on anymore, had only used it about 3 times during that period. Not impressed. I have contacted Tefal and await a resolution.

4 out of 5 stars Fryin' tonight...well once or twice a week!   November 10, 2008

Have had this fryer for 3 months and I'm very pleased with it.
It does take up a bit of space on the kitchen worktop and is quite heavy to move when filled with oil (cooled down of course)! But it is for your average family after all.
Viewing window is useless as it steams up when you lower food in.
Other than that, it's a decent product and great value for money.

TIP: If using sunflower oil, keep the temp to 160-170 degrees, otherwise you'll burn the oil and have a whiff around the room for a while after.

The switch on this product lasted a matter of a few weeks, as it did with another reviewer. A pity. It's well-designed and functional otherwise.

5 out of 5 stars A Brilliant Product   October 12, 2008

After suffering with Kenwood's Total Clean fryer we bought this product because it seemed to answer all the faults of the other one. It has a totally removable rectangular lid - no latches or hinges to break or become gunged up. It is rectangular and it's size makes for more convenient storage, it also has two sturdy handles which make it much safer to move. It has a good length of power cord. It has a timer and only operates when the timer is activated. When the timer returns to zero the unit switches off - so if you forget to do so the thing does not go on heating the oil. The basket is a good size and is easily removeable. The heating element can be completely removed for easy cleaning. The thermostat is very accurate and calibrated in temperature degrees rather than symbols, making it almost impossible to over-cook the food. The viewing window is large enough and situated at the front of the lid so that steaming up is less of a problem. I have been using mine for 3 months and have encountered none of the technical problems described by other reviewers. If you are looking for a good, efficient fryer - look no further.

This product was good at first however after 3 months use, there was a loud POP and smoke after 3 uses, and now the item no longer works. Have been trying to return it ever since!! Very surprised and disappointed that chose Tefal. It took me a longer time to eventually buy one, than the thing actually lasting!!!
