Fantastic stuff! October 3, 2008 B. Seed (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We had a DC04 for many (at least 8 if not more) years and were happy with it. When we got 2 long-haired cats, however, it began to show its age and couldn't really keep up with the copious amount of hair they shed, so we invested in the DC14 Animal. The results have been amazing - haven't even had to use the special animal hair turbo head thingy, either, as the main upright cleaner does it all beautifully. We not only suffer from cat hairs, but also cat litter, from our indoor cats, and this machine certainly does NOT just flick the litter around (see negative review). It sucks it up beautifully, without leaving a trace anywhere. I did go into a high street store to try out one of the new Dyson Ball vacuums, but found it very cumbersome, heavy and not at all comfortable to use, so decided to stick with the 'old fashioned' approach. I suspect that some will like it, while others won't. Just as long as Dyson continue to give us the choice! Incidentally our old DC04 has never broken down, but has had to have at least 3 new hoses. BUT, it's still well worth it in the long term - no other vacuum has ever managed to out-perform Dysons for us, and the price of a couple of hoses is not great (in fact we got the first 2 under the terms of the guarantee, so they cost us nothing). The DC04 hasn't finished its useful life, so is now going to go to my son's cat-free home, where I'm sure it'll continue to earn its keep wonderfully.
It Works!! September 1, 2008 Mr. J. P. Harding (Telford, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Purchased this item yesterday (an impulse buy when our current vacumn cleaner was playing up). We purchased from Dixons (wish I had checked Amazon as we would have sazed 60). So far so good. Powerful and like previous reviewers we noticed an immediate difference on our carpets (we have two large dogs). Only time will tell if this cleaner will continue to work as well as this. First impressions are very positive. Yes it is a bit heavy but consider it a work out.
fantastic! June 21, 2008 M. Hunt (uk) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
J had a dyson motorhead before for 6 years, which i was vey pleased with, but finally gave up the ghost after multitude of things including falling down the stairs and being chewed by my puppy! Decided on this animal on as i have a dog. Arrived very well packed, easy to assemble with easy simple instructions. Does exactly what it says it does. I must point out also that i did try another well know brand vacum cleaner inbetween, which was around 90 which last 1 year then blew up!! This is why i am sticking to dyson they may appear expensive but in my opinion it is well worth it and cost effective in the end.
Avoid at all costs - Totally useless design. June 19, 2008 Zepfan 0 out of 5 found this review helpful
Two years ago we decided to buy a Dyson. Big mistake. The whole concept is flawed, in my opinion. 1, it is incredibly heavy, so much so that my wife cannot carry it upstairs(unless thats her way of getting me to do my share..Doh!) 2, it is so noisy I am surprised that health & safety allow it to operate inside homes. 3, when on hard floors it simlpy flicks the dust, and particularly cat litter granules, all over the floor instead of picking them up! 4, Within the first 12 months the hose had broken, as had part of the plastic surround. Within 2 years the motor has completely packed up - it now is awaiting the landfill site it so readliy deserves. Never, never, ever again. I'm out today to buy a Miele or similar quality brand instead.
Great buy at Amazon March 9, 2008 Coverley (Scotland) 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
I have spent weeks trying to decide which vacuum to purchase, hours looking at reviews in the internet, should I get Sebo, LG, Miele or another make, its just a minefield. I have a hairy dog .. and I stupidly gave my old Dyson away, because of a couple of minor design faults, I went on to use 3 different makes of vacuum cleaner, none of these matched the cleaning power of the Dyson. But I can honestly say the Dyson DC14 is excellent, easy to use, manoeuvre and actually sucks up dog hairs. I previously had the older purple Animal Dyson, not as good, or as easy to use. I am glad to say the updated version has ironed out the annoying design faults that existed in the old ANIMAL version, such as an awkward hose, tendancy to tip over and a poorly shaped sucking device. Amazon offers this product alot cheaper than a local electrical store, where a purchased mine for 299. Wish I had read this review before purchasing.
