1 out of 5 stars Broke after 5 uses   December 20, 2008

I used this for grinding spices only and it worked an absolute treat to start with but after a couple of uses the spices kept getting caught in the blunt upturned ends of the blades (why on earth they didn't design this with sharp-ended blades is a complete mystery) and each grind would involve several instances of having to clear the blades. Even though I was careful not to run the motor on while the blades were jammed (and did let it rest for a minute or so giving it time to cool down) it seems that even the few seconds of the motor running each time they were stuck was enough to burn it out after around 5 uses. Complete disappointment.

Do not touch this alleged coffee grinder with a barge pole...James Martin should be ashamed of himself: Try and pick it up-Can't one-handed especially if you have small hands...Remove top:Can't...there's not one surface on this object which allows you any purchase at all, it's as smooth as and slippery as a bucket of eels...after a couple of grinds the microswitch has to be brushed clean before you may close the top...with this grinder you'd have more success poking smoke up a dog's bum with a stick...!

Looked smart & reliable, worked great, a lovely birthday present. My first ever coffee grinder and it gave me a taste for the real thing so the coffee must have been fine - but it broke down 3 months in! I didn't use it more than once or twice a week, it certainly wasn't overwork. Now have to buy another, so I guess it did some manufacturer some good by getting me hooked, but I'll never buy wahl again.

Bought this product as a cheap first stab at grinding our own coffee beans. What a false economy. The motor gave up after a month of use (approximately every other day). Wouldn't recommend .

I was looking for a sole purpose spice grinder, came across this sleek little bargain and I love it! Really quick, powerful enough for cinnamon sticks, cardamom etc. It works so speedily and has made my life in the kitchen a dream. Quite a sexy little number too...
