Amazon.co.uk Review Wine should breathe a little, but not overnight. Putting an end to the oxidation process, which turns a favourite Merlot into vinegar, is easy with the Vacu Vin Wine Saver. Made from high-quality rubber, which will not affect the taste of the wine, the Wine Saver uses a vacuum-style pump to release air to keep a wine fresh. And it's easy to use--just place a stopper in a bottle's neck, place the pump over the stopper, and pump air out until some resistance is felt. This process is suitable for preserving all but sparkling wines, and will save Chiantis, Syrahs and others for up to two weeks. --Madeleine Miller, Amazon.com

Does the job perfectly November 22, 2008 J. Burnand (Bath, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is one of those gadgets that should have been bought years ago. The Vacuvin Wine Saver looked good and was one of the cheapest for sale on Amazon. Simple to use. Came with two plastic corks that fit snugly in all wine bottles. Several easy pumps with the wine saver thingy (looks like a corkscrew) and then a satisfying click when all the air has been vacuumed from the bottle. In my experience, uncorked wine up to a week old still tastes fine when saved in this way.
Essential for saving your opened wine for another day December 18, 2004 R. J. Maher (Nottingham, UK) 45 out of 45 found this review helpful
I all but gave up buying wine until someone bought me one of these. I became frustrated by tipping half a bottle of good red wine down the sink a day after opening it when it had gone off, or feeling that I had to finish the bottle, and so feel worse for drink the day after. This item has changed all that. I no longer have to think about the waste if I just want a glass or two from a bottle. Simply push in the rubber bung and use the pump to suck all the air out. The wine keeps well for at least a week like this, and so is the perfect gizmo, if like me, you are a one or two glass per night regular wine drinker. The bungs are also dishwasher safe and after two years in mine, are still good as new. It may seem a little pricey for what it is, but considering the wine I have saved over the years, it really has been invaluable. Simple, elegant, quality item.
