Rubbish - broke after 2 months November 16, 2007 The Twin 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Switch stopped working along with smell of burning electrics after just 2 months. Getting warranty service from Amazon proved to be a hassle - they try to fob you off by referring you to manufacturers. Amazon need to understand UK sales legislation and improve their customer service for these type of items.
Tefal lid problem! September 27, 2007 Sophie 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
The Tefal was bought as a replacement for my Kenwood which broke down. The non stick interior is great though not a good idea to leave it on the warm facility for too long else the rice browns and develops a 'skin' on the bottom. Though I have placed the condensation collector under the handle as specified, I find it has no use since the condensation simply rises and there is no spillage. The only issue I do have with this cooker is the lid. It has a glass circular insert in the metal so you can supposedly see your rice(not really possible with all the steam and condensation build up). When it comes to cleaning it is very annoying. The starchy water gets into the join between the metal and glass and is very hard to clean effectively. A simple metal lid would have been far better.
Don't waste your money November 13, 2006 SPN (An American in England!) 24 out of 24 found this review helpful
I tried making rice with this rice cooker a few times and every time I used it it coated my kitchen with rice steam and didn't do a very good job cooking the rice. I was cooking brown rice and it always ended up with a coating on the bottom - not quite scorched. I adjusted the water to make sure that it didn't burn, but it didn't make a difference. You're better off cooking your rice in a pan on the stove top. While we lived in Japan, I had purchased a Japanese rice cooker with Fuzzy Logic - the one I brought with me died in transport, so I replaced it with this Tefal - big mistake. I did finally tracked down a fuzzy logic rice cooker on e-bay, so the Tefal one is going. I would highly recommend passing on this one and finding a fuzzy logic rice cooker - they are amazing - they adjust for the type of rice you're cooking, if it's brown, white, sushi, mixed... and it cooks perfect every time.
Perfect fluffy rice September 10, 2006 Mr. P. L. O. Brown (Germany) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
We were given a rice cooker, and after just the first use I was hooked. It continues to produce perfect rice (if careful with the initial measurements of rice/water)and it allows you the freedom to simply forget the rice and concentrate on the rest of your meal. Terrific. Go for the bigger (3.2l)size, as in fact it could be even bigger for when hosting others.
Fluffy Rice (for a change!) April 3, 2006 sharalee99 (Shetland) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I found the Tefal 368217 Rice cooker to be very good for the price paid for it. I could never cook rice properly even though I love cooking and am quite competant. It has easy to follow instructions, ans all the dirty bits can go in the dishwasher-nothing complicated about this at all. I use it a lot as it can also cook pasta, vegggies, and can be used to steam things aswell. Very versatile, and I would thoroughly recommend it.
